David Geenty

David Geenty is widely regarded as one of Europe's leading horse sculptors.

Born in England in 1945, David grew up on his father's cattle ranch in South Africa and attended art college in Johannesburg. He went on to study mechanical engineering graduating from Glasgow in 1970 and then worked as a naval architect. Following the decline of the ship building industry he returned to his love of sculpture concentrating on equine study.

Bridget Tempest

Bridget Tempest from the Yorkshire Dales is a painter, printmaker and sculptor whose love of Turkmenistan's Akhal Teke horses is evident in much of her work. The discipline of anatomical drawings characterise her unusual and original work.

Bridget studied at the Ruskin School of Drawing, University of Oxford, and later completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Printmaking at Camberwell College of Art, London. She has been a visiting lecturer and tutor at numerous colleges.

Bridget set up a Stone Lithography Department at the State Art Academy, Ashgabat in Turkmenistan and has researched a Cultural Directory for Turkmenistan for the British Embassy. Bridget has travelled widely in her studies and as a visiting artist including the UK, USA, Austria, Belgium, Peru and Turkmenistan. She has work in numerous public and private collections.

We currently have the following sculptures by Bridget Tempest, Yanardag and Lachine.

"Lachine" by Bridget Tempest

Horse I

by Bridget Tempest

Width    13.5cm
Height  14cm
Price   £345
Edition of 250

Bridget produced the original sculpture for this limited edition bronze during her travels to Turkmenistan. She sculpted the piece completely from life spending many hours with Lachine, an excellent example of a Turkoman horse. According to Bridget, his conformation and incredible movement are “as good as you can get”. Lachine also features in a lot of Bridget’s original paintings and she clearly cherishes the time she spent with him and the rapport that developed between them.
